IPT Perlu Terjemah Hasil Kerja Akademik Ke Bahasa Kebangsaan
KUALA LUMPUR: Institusi pengajian tinggi (IPT) kini perlu menterjemah setiap penulisan akademik yang dihasilkan dalam Bahasa Inggeris ke dalam Bahasa Melayu dalam usaha memulihara dan memperkasa bahasa kebangsaan.
Menteri Pengajian Tinggi,berkata, kementerian telah bersetuju untuk melaksanakannya agar penterjemahan itu dilakukan kepada buku-buku dan jurnal yang dihasilkan institusi pengajian tinggi.
Katanya, perkara itu tidak akan menjejaskan sama sekali usaha universiti untuk memperbaiki kedudukan mereka di peringkat antarabangsa.
"Kita di kementerian sudah nyatakan usaha memartabatkan Bahasa Melayu di IPT perlu diteruskan dan salah satunya adalah supaya tenaga akademik perlu banyak menulis dalam Bahasa Melayu. Kita rasa ia tidak menghalang universiti terlibat untuk dinilai dalam ranking kerana kita mahukan mereka beri perhatian kepada soal menterjemah buku-buku yang ditulis," katanya kepada pemberita selepas menghadiri majlis berbuka puasa bersama media anjuran kementeriannya di sini, Selasa.

Beliau berkata demikian ketika diminta mengulas isu IPT yang banyak memberi tumpuan kepada penggunaan Bahasa Inggeris dalam penghasilan bahan akademik terutama dalam usaha mereka mengejar kedudukan dalam ranking antarbangsa.
Mohamed Khaled berkata, IPT bukan mahu mengutamakan Bahasa Inggeris tetapi penulisan akademik memang perlu dihasilkan dalam bahasa tersebut untuk diterbitkan bagi kegunaan di peringkat antarabangsa.
Beliau juga berkata, penilaian universiti untuk dimasukkan dalam ranking antarabangsa bukan semata-mata bergantung kepada jumlah pelajar cemerlang tetapi penilaian pekerja, penilaian rakan setara, jumlah tenaga akademik dan kehadiran pelajar antarabangsa.
Mengulas mengenai kehadiran pelajar asing dari sesetengah negara yang banyak memberi kesan negatif kepada IPT, Khaled berkata langkah menghentikan pengambilan mereka bukanlah sesuatu yang wajar.
"Itu kita lari dari masalah. Kita perlu ambil itu sebagai satu cabaran. Mereka bawa banyak kebaikan kepada negara kita dari segi sumbangan kepada pertumbuhan ekonomi sebab mereka berbelanja dalam negara kita, dan lebih penting bagaimana kita dapat pindahkan nilai Malaysia kepada dunia," katanya.
Menurut beliau, pihak kementerian sentiasa mengkaji polisi pengambilan pelajar asing serta telah memaklumkan sesetengah universiti agar tidak mengambil pelajar dari sesebuah negara dengan jumlah yang banyak kerana ia boleh memberi banyak kesan pada masa depan. - BERNAMA
